Rebekah is a sixteen-year-old transgender activist, spreading her message of hope for trans and LGBTQ youth internationally through public speaking, television appearances, and social media. She’s testified before the NJ state legislature, spoken at rallies in NY and NJ, and this past summer shared her hopes for the church with 31,000 youth and adults at the Lutheran Youth Gathering in Houston, TX.
Rebekah stumbled into public advocacy as the cute little girl with pink hair holding a sign that said “I’m the scary transgender person the media warned you about.” It was absurd. She wasn’t scary at all. That was the point. It went viral. Rebekah discovered she had a voice, and she decided to use that voice to make the world a better place for kids like her.
She’s been featured by Teen Vogue, People, Forbes, Good Morning America, The Advocate Magazine, British Vogue, the Human Rights Campaign, the Trevor Project.. She’s appeared on Good Morning Britain, the Today Show, Good Day Philadelphia, and the Tamron Hall Show, received awards for activism and public speaking, and gone viral with videos and images inspiring people of all ages and identities to show up fully as themselves and dare to make the world a better place.
In 2019, she was honored to join the Marvel Universe as a part of Marvel’s Hero Project. While she believes all transgender kids are superheroes, she’s honored to represent them as The Mighty Rebekah. Marvel Hero Project is streaming on Disney+.
She was a finalist for Time and Nickelodeon’s 2020 Kid of the Year. In 2021, Rebekah co-authored her first book, A Kids Book About Being Inclusive. She’s been a vocal advocate for transgender young people in athletics, and she continues to teach people about what it means to support and show up for LGBTQ+ youth in the world. She is a proud Champion with the GenderCool Project.
